So I was feeling good today and I began to think about a few of my favorite things and felt the need to remix the entire song đŸ™‚

My church’s worship and Sunday night football
Sounds of the ocean and the colors of fall
Beautiful pretty butterfly wings
These are a few of my favorite things

The Pittsburg Steelers and dancing for Jesus
Reading Sue Grafton NOT riding the bus
Listening to gospel artists sing
These are a few of my favorite things

Watching good movies on the big screen
Sharing the gospel with those around me
Writing ‘bout scriptures and them how I see
These are a few of my favorite things

When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I’m feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don’t feel so bad

I must say… I suck @ blogging… Its pretty much out of sight out of mind for me. I used to have wordpress as a homepage but then I downloaded a new internet server and I can only have one homepage instead of the 5 I had before. Why am I making excuses?? I don’t know… they’re unnecessary and unimportant… I’m trying to blog on here more and again and that’s all that matters…

So in reading my old blog updates I just laugh because things have constantly been changing… My schedule has changed… my life has changed… everything has changed well cept one thing… I still don’t have a job but that’ll change soon too đŸ™‚

  • So yeah I’m now a part time student @ Bowie… currently taking 2 classes… Voice and Piano…
  • My major… yes it has changed yet again…. to Music LOL
  • I’m only in one class @ DDI which is Warfare Weapons on Monday nights
  • I’ve joined Excellence Christian Church (click on the link under church and organizations) and I’m excited about it

I think that’s all for now… I’ve been truly enjoying life and its been a journey but I finally feel I’m right where God wants me to be for this season in my life. Even with the things that I feel aren’t going my way…

In other News… I love astronomy… like as a kid I had my grandmother (who is now gone to be with the Lord) buy me this Big telescope set. I would sneak outside @ night and try to look @ the constellations. Now because I lived in an urban area I saw maybe one star if I was lucky enough… I was always OVERLY excited to visit Owens B. Science Center to go into the dome to have them point out constellations to us. Like I think I was the only one in my class amazed and I didn’t even really fully understand then just the vastness of God… I just knew that it was simply amazing.. especially to think that because we’re constantly moving and the stars are constantly moving and are so big and so far away that where we see them today… isn’t where they were even a few days ago… Mind blowing right??? LOL… So take this for cake… so we know that in the beginning God created the Heavens and the Earth… wait I’m just getting so overwhelmed right now that I can’t even do it justice… Just watch the videos @ the bottom… and know that God is WAY WAY WAY bigger than we can ever imagine… and yet… He loved US so much… that He took the time to come down into human form… and become as small as US… JUST to save US…

Oh yeah btw… @ Fall Conference there was this BEAUTIFUL night where the clouds were gone and the sky was clear and we saw all the stars in the sky and even saw them twinkle and it was just so awesome and amazing and wonderful.

Where would I be
If not for your grace
Carrying me
Through every season
Where would I be
If not for Your grace
Came to my rescue
And I want to thank You
For Your grace

Grace that restores
Grace that redeems
Grace that releases
Me to worship
Grace that repairs
Visions and dreams
Grace that releases

I love this song… I first heard it @ Release ’08 where Khia led worship of course… this song is my constant reminder that I am saved by grace and that any and everything is possible because of it…

“But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved, through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”
~ Romans 2:4-9

“Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God, who has saved us and called us with a holy calling not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was give to us in Christ Jesus before time began, but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.”
~ 2 Timothy 2:8-10

So, wow yeah, I was quoting that scripture for verse 9, where it talks about grace, but I don’t like putting up incomplete sentences and the bible, especially the new testament, is full of run on sentences. I was totally convicted just then by verse 8… I was reminded of the Bowie bible study when I was sort of thrown into this outreach evangelism that they were doing on campus (mind you I’m not a student at Bowie at the time). I was so uncomfortable not only because I’m doing outreach on a campus of a school that I don’t even go to yet, but because I was doing outreach and had to tell people about Jesus. I mean what was I afraid or ashamed of? Back then Paul had good reason to tell them not to be ashamed… they had good reason to be afraid… if you proclaimed Jesus you would be thrown in jail or killed… What’s my excuse?… there’s no one threatening me to keep my mouth closed or I’ll be killed, thrown in jail, or even harmed for that matter… but yet even when I fail… God’s grace keeps me…

So often christians debate on whether we are to live in prosperity or not… they often quote the parable of the rich young ruler where Jesus told him to sell all his possessions, give to the poor and follow HIm. Or the passage where Levi sells all his possessions and repays what he’s taken from people 10 times over… Or they assert that Jesus and His disciples were homeless because they wandered around Jewish and Gentile territory for about 3 years… Well here is my opinion (backed up by scripture of course…)

First I’d like to define prosperity because I’m all about definitions and such… Prosperity is a state of material or spiritual bountifulness

Why is it so easy to follow the things of God when its someting we want to do or seems easy enough that we don’t mind? But when its something that’s hard we question if it was really God who told us to do it?

I think we need a reality check because Jesus makes it clear in Matthew… “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” (7:21)
He also proved that God’s Will isn’t always easy in Luke, but that we need His help to get it done… “And He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and prayed, saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” Then and angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him. And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. The His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.” (22:41-44)
Can you imagine agonizing about a task you have to complete so much that you’re sweating blood? But Jesus was praying and God sent Him help.
